  • Begin your sewing journey with the guidance of our patient, knowledgeable and skilled instructors.
  • The first thing you will learn is how to confidently thread and troubleshoot your machine. From there, build your toolkit with popular seam finishes, easy to install zippers and handy hems. With small class sizes you will get the one-on-one attention you need plus the freedom to learn at your own pace.

      Madeline Tumolo

      Designer

      Madeline is a passionate, hardworking and detail-oriented designer. A graduate of Thomas Jefferson University FKA Philadelphia University 2021, she specializes in womenswear and evening wear. Her love for fashion design started at a young age, captivated by saris and traditional Indian dress. From learning to sew at the age of eight to designing in art class; her passion for art/design was evident. Madeline is inspired by the world around her, particularly different cultures, colors and nature. She loves to explore different color combinations, textures and fabrics. She designs for everyone no matter their age, sexual orientation, ethnicity, religion, etc. Her goal is for her clients to feel beautiful while wearing her designs. Madeline is skilled in illustration, draping, patternmaking, styling, garment construction, etc. and can always be found with a sketchbook in hand.

      Emily Rose Pawlowicz

      Designer

      Rose is a fashion designer who specializes in trans-focused lingerie and loves working with clients one-on-one. They attended Academy of Art University in San Francisco.

      • 8.5” x 11” Portfolio or Binder with Sheet Protectors
      • Sewing pins + Hand sewing needles

      FAQs

      Who is this course for?

      Anyone looking to learn a new skill! Our courses are designed for beginners as well as experienced designers. You should already have basic sewing skills or take our Sewing 1 course!

      What is the difference between West Philly and Center City courses?

      Our Sewing 1 course is the same at both locations, so choose the one that works best for you! The only difference is the West Philly course is taught on Singer Heavy Duty 4411 machines and Center City is taught on Juki industrial machines. 

      What supplies do I have to buy?

      You will need a machine at home for homework. We recommend the Singer Heavy Duty 4411.

      I haven’t taken class with you, but am I an experienced sewist. Can I start with an advanced class?

      If you know your seams, hems, etc., we recommend becoming a Level 2 Member and enrolling in Sewing 2 at the same time. You can work on your personal projects and work in the studio throughout the week to refamiliarize yourself with the machine.

      Will there be homework?

      Yes, you will have assignments to work on at home throughout the courses. You can expect to have 1-2 hours of homework each week.

      Do I have access to the studio outside of class time?

      No, only Studio Members and Designer Development Program students have open studio access. Click to become a Member

      What is the Refund Policy?

      100% refund will be given if you need to cancel your order up until the original registration deadline. 50% refund will be given if you need to after the original registration deadline has passed, but before the first day of class. 0% refund will be given if you cancel on or after the first day of class.

      I started taking classes, but now want to join the program. Is that possible?

      Yes, any courses completed with passing grades will be counted as academic and financial credit towards the program and you will not have to retake them.
