Start your fine arts journey with drawing! Through exploration, detailed demonstrations, and hands-on approaches, we’ll cover everything you need to get in touch with your artistic abilities or develop your skills. This is art from the ground up.

Through guided lessons, instruction, individual feedback, and group critiques, students will learn observation, technique, and artistic expression in drawing. Over six weeks, participants will explore various forms of mark-making, experiment with tone, surface, and perspective through exercises that develop and strengthen the eye-to-hand connection. Build confidence in your creative abilities while deepening your understanding of drawing and visual art. Students will finish the course with a collection of drawings for their portfolio. No prior experience is necessary, and all levels are welcome.*

  • This course is perfect for anyone curious about art or interested in developing or furthering a drawing practice. No experience required, and all levels are welcome. Come as you are.

  • Yes. You will have small assignments to work on at home throughout the course, so expect to spend 1-2 hours on homework each week to continue exploring what you’ve learned in class.

  • Made Rittenhouse is open at 10 a.m. every day for staff, students, and members. New and returning students should arrive no more than 15 minutes before their class starts.

  • We invite parents, guardians, and friends to come in to say hello and chat with our staff. We kindly ask that anyone not participating in the class wait outside of Made at a location of their choice until the class ends. Made Institute’s Rittenhouse location is conveniently near many cafes, shops, and the famous Rittenhouse Square, offering you plenty of options to pass the time.

  • If you cancel your order by the original registration deadline, you will receive a full refund. If you cancel after this deadline but before the first class begins, you will receive a 50% refund. However, no refund will be provided for cancellations on or after the first day of class.

  • Of course! This class is open to all levels, and students can feel free to bring their experience to each assignment. If you’re looking for a place to draw, instructor feedback, enjoy art critiques, and group discussions, this class is for you.
